Yamba has gone from a quiet fishing village to one of the most sought-after coastal addresses in NSW. The quality of its homes reflects that.
Yamba sits at the mouth of the Clarence River, one of the most beautiful river systems in NSW, and its combination of surf beaches, estuary fishing and a relaxed village feel has made it one of the fastest-growing coastal communities in the state. The housing stock ranges from original fibro beach shacks being renovated by new owners through to ambitious contemporary builds taking advantage of the river and ocean views.
We travel to Yamba regularly from our Ballina workshop. The drive is longer than to our closer service areas, but Yamba is a community we know well and service frequently. We have good relationships with a number of the builders and renovation contractors active in the Yamba and Clarence Valley area and are comfortable coordinating with them on larger projects.
Iluka sits directly across the Clarence River from Yamba, connected by a vehicle ferry. It is a smaller, quieter community with a collection of older homes and a strong sense of local identity. The coastal conditions in Iluka are essentially identical to Yamba and the same product specification applies. We cross to Iluka for projects regularly and are familiar with the housing stock there.
Maclean is about 15 minutes upstream from Yamba and serves as the commercial centre of the lower Clarence Valley. It has a more varied property mix than Yamba itself — older residential homes in the town, commercial buildings along the main street, and rural properties on the surrounding floodplain. We service Maclean and the surrounding communities of Gulmarrad, Townsend and the broader Clarence Valley for window and door projects of all sizes.
Wooli and Angourie are smaller coastal communities south of Yamba with holiday homes and permanent residents. We travel to both for projects that suit our services.
Yamba's rapid growth has brought a wide range of property types. Each has different requirements.
The original Yamba housing stock — fibro beach shacks and weatherboard bungalows from the fifties and sixties — is being renovated at pace. New owners are investing significantly in these homes and window replacement is almost always on the list. The original frames are typically well past their useful life and the coastal conditions have accelerated their deterioration.
At the other end of the market, Yamba is attracting buyers who are building or purchasing high-quality new homes with serious glazing ambitions. Large sliding door systems, frameless glass balustrades on elevated decks overlooking the river or the ocean, and custom frameless shower screens in bathrooms that could feature in a design magazine. We have delivered projects like these in Yamba and are well equipped to do so.
